Citizens’ Climate Lobby aims to create the political will for a sustainable climate and empower individuals to exercise their personal and political power. We are a nonpartisan volunteer organization lobbying to put a price on carbon pollution, with a dividend returned to the people. In Washington state, we support the Climate Commitment Act and the "No on 2117" campaign and are leading advocacy efforts through a statewide postcard writing initiative.

SOA Logo

Sustainable Ocean Alliance Pacific Northwest

Sustainable Ocean Alliance’s mission is to activate young people in the Pacific Northwest to develop and implement innovative solutions and mobilize them to restore the health of the ocean in their lifetime. As the first US-based regional hub, we aim to create a community in the Pacific Northwest with subhubs at Oregon State University and Washington State, which will be mainly driven by passionate students and early career members. SOA PNW is at the forefront of youth leadership raising public awareness and educating stakeholders on the potential risks and uncertainties associated with ocean threats like deep-sea mining.

UWROV Logo

UWROV

The Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicles Team at the University of Washington (UWROV) is an interdisciplinary group of undergraduate students who design, build, and compete with underwater robots (ROVs) in the international Marine Advanced Technology Education (MATE) competition! UWROV will have a booth showing off their ROV and its exciting technology as well as discussing ROVs and their role in Deep Sea Conservation

Marine Stewardship Council Logo

Marine Stewardship Council

The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is an international nonprofit on a mission to end overfishing and ensure seafood is fished sustainably. Their ecolabel, the MSC blue fish label, can be found on a wide variety of seafood products and means that the product carrying it is made with wild-caught and certified sustainable seafood.

Seamount Trading Co. is a collaborative project between Peyton Lee and Yerin Yang, two Seattle-based artists with a love for the ocean. Together, the two of them make prints, stickers, comics, and apparel, celebrating the diversity of our marine ecosystem and the people who explore it. 10% of all proceeds from the festival will be donated to marine conservation!

Seattle Aquarium Logo

A renowned resource for hands-on marine experiences and conservation education, the Seattle Aquarium offers fun, exciting ways to discover more about the amazing Puget Sound and our world’s one big ocean.

Girl Scouts of Western Washington Logo

Girl Scouts of Western Washington

Girl Scouts of Western Washington is consistently and unapologetically committed to providing safe spaces for all girls* to belong. Girl Scouting builds youth of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. Founded in 1912, our organization has been committed to meeting the needs of our youth members for over a century. We uplift all Girl Scouts in a supportive environment where they can discover their strengths and rise to meet new challenges—whether they want to climb to the top of a tree or the top of their class, lace up their boots for a hike or advocate for climate justice, or make their very first best friends. Backed by trusted adult volunteers, mentors, and millions of alums, Girl Scouts lead the way as they find their voices and make changes that affect the issues most important to them. They are the future leaders paving the way toward a brighter tomorrow. To join us, volunteer, reconnect, donate, or learn more, visit www.girlscoutsww.org.

*Girl Scouts of Western Washington uses the term girls inclusively to speak to everyone who identifies with the Girl Scout experience, which includes cisgender girls, gender-expansive youth, transgender girls, non-binary youth, gender nonconforming youth, genderqueer youth, and any girl-identifying human.

Black In Marine Science Logo

Black in Marine Science

We are a premier organization aimed to celebrate Black marine scientists, spread environmental awareness and inspire the next generation of scientific thought leaders.
Black In Marine Science started as a week to highlight and amplify Black voices in the field and encourage younger generations, while also shedding light on the lack of diversity in marine science. After the harassment of Black Birder Christian Cooper and #BlackBirdersWeek the need for #BlackinMarineScienceWeek was evident. It started with a tweet from Dr. Tiara Moore and grew to a team of organizers putting together an online event.

We hoped to have a successful week, but we were blown out of the water when we discovered that so many people were impacted by our events! We created a community of Black marine scientists that was much needed during the isolation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. After the rewarding turnout of #BlackinMarineScienceWeek we decided it was time to form a non-profit and continue with our goal of highlighting and amplifying Black voices!

Dexter Davis

My name is Dexter Davis. I am a member of Sustainable Ocean Alliance Pacific Northwest (SOA PNW) and an artist with the Deep-Sea Biology Society (DSBS). I'm currently a master's student at Oregon State University (OSU) studying the role of macrofauna in filtering and assimilating methane at a methane seep in McMurdo Sound, Antarctica.
I study chemosynthetic habitats (areas where chemicals are the base of the energy in a system as opposed to sunlight) in deep-sea and polar habitats. Before my master's degree, I spent two-and-a-half years working as a lab technician in a deep-sea invertebrate biology lab at Western Washington University (WWU). During this time, I participated in 6 deep-sea research cruises over 150 days, visiting hydrothermal vents and methane seeps in the Pacific, Atlantic, and Gulf of Mexico. We used a multitude of instrumentation to collect and research invertebrate larval dispersal, settlement, and distribution. I am passionate about protecting deep-sea biodiversity, and demystifying the process of studying the deep-sea.
If you are interested in seeing my art, please check out my DSBS profile.
